A 6.4-liter V8 unit is the pickup’s base engine. This engine generates 429 lb-ft of torque.

A turbodiesel unit is the truck’s other engine. In low output form, this engine produces 850 lb-ft of torque. When it’s tuned to deliver high output, the turbodiesel engine delivers a whopping 1,075 lb-ft of torque.

Maximum Tow Rating

We’ve been Iowa RAM dealers long enough to know that our neighbors are often charged with moving heavy things that weigh considerably more than a recreational boat or a camper.

If you need to do the same, you’ll be happy to learn that the RAM 3500 has a max tow rating of 37,100 pounds when it’s outfitted with the high output diesel engine and the appropriate equipment.
