What is the Vehicle System Interface Module?

The Vehicle System Interface Module (VSIM) caters to upfitted RAM trucks. Select models feature over 70 hardwired inputs and outputs, which help you control your truck. You can turn on various functions and features using hardwired or J1939 commands. RAM trucks also need the VSIM for PTO functionality.

Does My Truck Have the VSIM?

Since 2019, the VSIM has been included as a standard feature in all RAM Chassis Cab models. It can also be included as a standalone option or as a package feature in the RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 pickups. If you're unsure, you can also check your truck. In 2019 and newer models, the VSIM is located underneath the steering column (behind the trim cover).

What if My Truck Doesn’t Have It?

The VSIM must be factory-installed. Unlike many other features and options, it cannot be installed at the dealership.

What if My VSIM Isn’t Working?

Check to be sure your truck is running. Other than lock and unlock, the VSIM's functions are only available when your truck is “awake” and will not function if your key is in the off position.
